Cyril William Hurcomb was a British civil servant. He was also a keen ornithologist and conservationist, and played a key role in the 1954 Protection of Birds Act. He served as chairman of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds' council, as president of the RSPB, and president of the West Midland Bird Club from 1960 to 1975

William Phillip Barbet Beal qualified from Camden Town School in July 1906. He went into general practice, and was for some time an assistant in the commercial practice of Mr Kitchen in Worship Street, London.
Beal Joined the Colonial Service and went to the Gold Coast. He rose to CVO, retired in the early 1930s and returned to England and went to the Royal Veterinary College. Beal was then appointed Superintendent at Whipsnade. He retired from Whipsnade at the age of 60.
Died at Gosport on 7th July 1964
