Archival history
These are the minutes of committees that managed London Zoo (originally called the Gardens of the Zoological Society of London) and Whipsnade. The Garden Committee (1861-1947) made policy decisions concerning London Zoo. It merged with the Whipsnade Committee (1931-1947) to form the Garden and Whipsnade Committee, which made policy decisions on the running of both London Zoo and Whipsnade. This changed its name to the Gardens and Park Committee in May 1958, and was dissolved in Nov 1987.
