The Association of British Zoologists was formed at the Meeting of British Zoologists on 5 Jan 1929 "to ensure a permanent organisation, with a Council which can represent British Zoologists between their annual Meetings". The first Council meeting was on 11 Jan 1930. Final meeting held 13 Jan 1973.

2 volumes of autographs collected by Hugh S Gladstone (1877-1949), and presented to the society by him. Gladstone was a Scottish Ornithologist and landowner. Volume 2 contains a list of 161 autographs (signatures) of naturalists, but Volume 1 does not contain a list. 

Two volumes describe two voyages which he took: to West Indies, South America, East Indies, China, Cape of Good Hope, and St Helena between 1823 and 1833 on the H C Ship Berwickshire.

The Buckland family papers consist of William Buckland (Dean of Westminster, paleontologist and geologist); and his son Frank (a surgeon and zoologist) and his wife Mary (paleontologist, marine biologist and scientific illustrator)
