Chessington World of Adventures Resort is a 128 acres theme park, zoo and hotel complex in Chessington, Greater London, England. The complex originally opened as Chessington Zoo in 1931; the theme park aspect was developed by The Tussauds Group, debuting in 1987 as one of the first combined animal-amusement parks in the United Kingdom. The zoo was started by Reginald Stuart Goddard, who had bought the estate to showcase his private collection of animals. It was once the largest private zoo in England. After Goddard died in 1946, the Pearson Publishing Company took over the zoo and managed it until 1978, when The Tussauds Group, a subsidiary of the Pearson Group, took control

Brookfield Zoo Chicago, also known as the Chicago Zoological Park, is a zoo located in the Chicago suburb of Brookfield, Illinois. It opened on July 1st 1934 and quickly gained international recognition for using moats and ditches instead of cages to separate animals from visitors and from other animals. The zoo was also the first in America to exhibit giant pandas.

In 1919 Edith Rockefeller McCormick donated land she had received from her father as a wedding gift to the Cook County Forest Preserve District for development as a zoological garden. The district added 98 acres to that plot and in 1921 the Chicago Zoological Society was established

The Royal Zoological Society of Dublin was established at a meeting held at the Rotunda Hospital on 10th May 1830 and the Zoo, then called the Zoological Gardens Dublin, was opened to the public on 1st September 1831. The animals, 46 mammals and 72 birds, were donated by London Zoo and the Royal Menagerie of the Tower of London

Dudley Zoo & Castle

Dudley Zoo & Castle is a zoo located within the grounds of Dudley Castle in the town of Dudley, in the Black Country region of the West Midlands, England. The zoo went into receivership in 1977 and was purchased by Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council. Dudley Zoo is now operated by Dudley and West Midlands Zoological Society, founded in 1978 and a registered charity.

The owner of Dudley Castle, the Third Earl of Dudley, decided to create a zoo in the castle grounds in the 1930s. It was Oxford Zoo, which closed in 1936, that supplied Dudley with the majority of its initial collection of animals. The zoo was built between 1935 and 1937, with Dr Geoffrey Vevers, Superintendent of London Zoo acting as an advisor. Thirteen zoo buildings were designed by Berthold Lubetkin and engineering was carried out by Ove Arup

The Jardin d'Acclimatation is a 19 hectare (47 acre) children's amusement park located in the northern part of the Bois de Boulogne in Paris. Opened by Napoléon III and Empress Eugénie, this Paris Zoo was originally known as Jardin Zoologique d'Acclimatation, where plants and colonies could acclimatise to France's weather conditions. It was directed by Isidore Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire until his death in 1861. From 1877 until 1912, the Jardin Zoologique d'Acclimatation was converted to l'Acclimatation Anthropologique

The Jardin zoologique du Québec is a former zoological park located in the borough of Charlesboug in Quebec City. Opened in 1931, it has been closed since March 31st 2006. Part of its land is open to the public under the name of Parc des Moulins. It was founded at the instigation of the Quebec Minister and Deputy Minister of Colonization, Hunting and Fisheries, Hector Laferté and Louis-Arthur Richard, when it was decided to add a zoological conservation mission to a project for an experimental farm for the breeding of fur animals
