Bompas, George Cox

George Cox Bompas was a British solicitor and astronomer. Bompas was born in Bloomsbury. He was the second son of Serjeant Charles Carpenter Bompas. His brother was William Bompas.

He married May Ann Scott Buckland, daughter of Reverend William Buckland, in 1860. They had four children. Bompas took interest in astronomy and studies periodic meteor shower and the Zodiacal light. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society. He was a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, the Geological Society and the Paleontological Society.

Robert Gambier Bolton was an English author and photographer of subjects on natural history and psychical phenomena. Bolton made numerous photographs of animals during his travels to many countries, including one with the party accompanying the Duke of Newcastle on his tour. His interest in animal photography was professional, amongst the first intending to profit from this pursuit. His works are sometimes preserved as scientific records for societies, though their value was not widely recognised, and appeared in journals and books of zoology
