Lieutenant-General Sir Alexander Hood was a physician and British Army medical officer who served as Director General of Army Medical Services from 1941 to 1948. He subsequently served as Governor of Bermuda from 1949-1955

Sir William Jackson Hooker was an English botanist and botanical illustrator, who became the first director of Kew when in 1841 it was recommended to be placed under state ownership as a botanic garden. At Kew he founded the Herbarium and enlarged the gardens and arboretum. His son, Joseph Dalton Hooker, succeeded him as Director of Kew Gardens

Frederick William Hope was an English clergyman, naturalist, collector and entomologist, who founded a professorship at the University of Oxford to which he gave his entire collection of insects in 1849 (the Hope Entomological Collections, with around 3.5 million specimens). He described numerous species and was a founder of the Entomological Society of London in 1833. He was a founder members of the Zoological Society of London. Hope collaborated with many naturalists of the period, including Charles Darwin
