Brookfield Zoo Chicago, also known as the Chicago Zoological Park, is a zoo located in the Chicago suburb of Brookfield, Illinois. It opened on July 1st 1934 and quickly gained international recognition for using moats and ditches instead of cages to separate animals from visitors and from other animals. The zoo was also the first in America to exhibit giant pandas.

In 1919 Edith Rockefeller McCormick donated land she had received from her father as a wedding gift to the Cook County Forest Preserve District for development as a zoological garden. The district added 98 acres to that plot and in 1921 the Chicago Zoological Society was established

Dudley Zoo & Castle is a zoo located within the grounds of Dudley Castle in the town of Dudley, in the Black Country region of the West Midlands, England. The zoo went into receivership in 1977 and was purchased by Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council. Dudley Zoo is now operated by Dudley and West Midlands Zoological Society, founded in 1978 and a registered charity.

The owner of Dudley Castle, the Third Earl of Dudley, decided to create a zoo in the castle grounds in the 1930s. It was Oxford Zoo, which closed in 1936, that supplied Dudley with the majority of its initial collection of animals. The zoo was built between 1935 and 1937, with Dr Geoffrey Vevers, Superintendent of London Zoo acting as an advisor. Thirteen zoo buildings were designed by Berthold Lubetkin and engineering was carried out by Ove Arup

The Jardin d'Acclimatation is a 19 hectare (47 acre) children's amusement park located in the northern part of the Bois de Boulogne in Paris. Opened by Napoléon III and Empress Eugénie, this Paris Zoo was originally known as Jardin Zoologique d'Acclimatation, where plants and colonies could acclimatise to France's weather conditions. Prague Zoo

Prague Zoological Garden is a zoo in Prague, Czech Republic. It was opened in 1931 with the goal to "advance the study of zoology, protect wildlife, and educate the public" in the district of Troja in the north of Prague. The zoo has contributed significantly to saving Przewalski's horse; for many years in the leading breeder of the subspecies.

The idea for a zoological garden in Prague was first proposed in 1881 in a newspaper article by Count Sweets-Spork, on the occasion of the marriage of Crown Prince Rudolf of Austria and Princess Stéphanie of Belgium. In 1919, at a meeting of the advisory board for mathematics and natural sciences at the Ministry of Education and National Enlightenment, a committee was established to start the preparatory work on the establishment of the zoo. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, being a part of the Schönbrunn Palace gardens. The Zoological Society of Glasgow was founded on 14th December 1936 by Edward Hindle, who was a professor of zoology at the University of Glasgow. Its name was later changed to the Zoological Society of Glasgow and West of Scotland.
