Lawrence Alderson was the Founder, Scientific Consultant, Executive Director, Chairman and International Ambassador of the Rare Breeds Survival Trust between 1969 and 2012. He helped to establish national non-governmental organisations for endangered breeds in several counties, and was Founder President of Rare Breeds International in 1989

William Phillip Barbet Beal qualified from Camden Town School in July 1906. He went into general practice, and was for some time an assistant in the commercial practice of Mr Kitchen in Worship Street, London.

Beal Joined the Colonial Service and went to the Gold Coast. He rose to CVO, retired in the early 1930s and returned to England and went to the Royal Veterinary College. Beal was then appointed Superintendent at Whipsnade. He retired from Whipsnade at the age of 60.

Died at Gosport on 7th July 1964
